Caving
|
The Club has organised climbing meets most weekends. These are usually in the Lakes, Peak, Dales or North Wales, but venues futher afield are also regularly included. Members also organise trips abroad eg. Sardinia, Kalymnos, Peru. Accommodation for full weekend meets can be camping, other club huts, or at one of our own two club huts near Coniston and near Blaenau Ffestiniog. What Else? Indoor meetings during the winter, with films, slides and lectures on all aspects of caving and climbing, involving wellknown speakers as well as our own members' efforts. There is a good library of guides, maps and books available on free loan. The Club own publications keep members informed of the Club, local and national news - matters like access problems, rescue facilities, use of huts, insurance facilities and so on. The Club is affiliated to and actively supports the British Mountaineering Council and other groups, through which we can help to defend our interests, negotiating with landowners or public bodies to keep our hard-won rights to use the hills and caves, and we can obtain specialist advice when needed. |
